Cape Yorker Magazine began with a 32 page, full-colour publication in August 2005.

Originally the founding publishers, Chris & Janine Bates, envisioned an ambitious quarterly journal featuring the people and places of Cape York Peninsula. More than just 4WD and fishing stories, Cape Yorker Magazine was intended to highlight the diversity of life on the Cape.

It proved successful. The first issue (pictured right) was greeted with overwhelming support from the reading public.

Unfortunately a quarterly publication was not viable due to the logistical nightmares of living in The Cape, not to mention the financial constraints involved in independent publishing!

As of mid 2006 the business took on a partner, Anthony Gomes, who had the unenviable job of editing ther new 180 page annual edition. Anthony has since taken over as sole proprietor of Cape Yorker.

Anthony is well-known through-out the fishing magazine fraternity through his editorship of North Queensland Fish & Boat.

The 2008 Annual has continued to make a further impact on the north and plans are well and truly underway for the next huge 2009 edition, so come along for the adventure.
